Biography

Ultramagnetic MC's formed in 1984 in the Bronx, New York City. The band feature Kool Keith, Ced Gee, TR Love, Moe Love & DJ Jaycee. Both Tim Dog & Rahzel also became unofficial members. One of their first singles "Ego Trippin' " created their worldwide buzz and is credited as being the first song to sample "Synthetic Substitution" by Melvin Bliss - one of the most sampled drum breaks.

Their 1988 debut album "Critical beatdown" is widely lauded as one of the best Hip Hop albums of all time. The album featured "Watch me Now", "Ease Back", 'Travelling at the Speed of Thought" & "Give the Drummer Some" - the latter being sampled by The Prodigy for their "Smack my Bitch Up" single.

After signing to Mercury Records the band released "Funk Your Head Up" in 1992 featuring "Poppa Large" and it is this album the band commemorate it's 25th Anniversary this evening.

Ultramagnetic MC's split in 1993 and reformed for one album "The Best Kept Secret" in 2007. Aside from the AGMP promoted 2013 tour celebrating the "Critical Beatdown" 25th anniversary, they have not played in the UK since 1988.
