Another UK venue has been struck with devastation, as the news has emerged that Antwerp Mansion will be forced to close next month due to orders from Manchester City Council Planning Department.

The council have argued that Antwerp Mansion only had permission to operate as a private member’s club, not as a nightclub despite being successfully run as one for approximately seven years. The club was told it must revert back to this use, with a closing time of 11pm. Antwerp Mansion had the right to appeal this notice, which then triggered a legal battle that has been ongoing for seven months.

The Antwerp Mansion team have posted a full statement on their Facebook page, which you can read here:

In response to this heartbreaking blow to Manchester's night time economy, Antwerp Mansion are looking for help from local politicians who can potentially help them with their case. And they need your help to get their voice heard.

You can sign this petition to dispute the council's decision and come together to keep this cultural and musical landmark open.

Skiddle, as always, will aim to keep customers up to date with changes to any events.
