DJ HELL - 'INTERNATIONAL DEEJAY GIGOLOS CD TEN'

RELEASE DATE: 18th JUNE 2007

The influence of international Deejay Gigolos can hardly be overestimated. Early Gigolo releases from artists such as Miss Kittin & The Hacker or Christopher Just were a turning point in the musical tastes of so many; winning over many new listeners to the electro sound. CD TEN sees the dawning of a new chapter in a label that has made musical history, as series creator DJ Hell gives his interpretation of the seminal Gigolo concept.

Ever supportive of new talent, CD TEN introduces 11 brand new Gigolos, hand picked by the label's A+R mastermind Dj Hell who despite his incessant "non-stop world tour" and gruelling gig schedule always finds time to source great new artists before anyone else has heard of them. CD TEN introduces Belgian boy Arbotique, Berlin's Woody and Get Physical's DJ duo Voltique to just name a few, ushering in the new generation of Gigolo artists. Of course, they are following in some big footsteps but with the hell seal of approval, these bright new talents are sure to go far.

Highlights from the new recruits include Cologne based Dj Rebecca Von Kalinowsky's powerful track Dance, which is exactly what you will want to do when you hear it. Romanian Gigolo The Model's track is another real body mover, which originally came out as 12".

This healthy batch of fresh new acts is counterbalanced with big Gigolo names such as Mount Sims, who contributes with the brilliant Nailed to the wall and Jamie Anderson and Jesse Rose who give their updated take on Steve "Silk" Hurley's legendary hit Jack You Body with the track Body Jackin'. Gigolo boss Hell gets in on the action himself, delivering an outstanding tune with his, Is Hell The One And Only Dominator? remix of Dutch crew Human Resource's '91 hardcore classic Dominator. It's worth investing in this double CD for this track alone!

For a label like Gigolo Records, which practically wrote the book of Electro, you might think that it would be hard to stay relevant in a fast changing scene. Yet somehow HELL always manages to turn up the hottest new acts and delivers collection of music as eclectic and international as you could hope it to be. To promote the compilation there will be an extensive tour so that people around the world can join in celebrating 10 years of the Gigolo legacy. So, its time to welcome a new generation of Gigolo artists and enjoy the beginning of a new decade in prime electronic music!

To celebrate the 10-year anniversary of International Deejay Gigolos, Hell and friends will be playing at Fabric, London, on Saturday 30th June 2007.

"CD1 highlights include Kevin Gormans dirty take on Outlanders classic - The Vamp. The Kraftwerk / Bladerunner esque Herman Schwartz's Replicant's Suffering. The late night blunt mix of Foremost Poets 'Reasons to be dismal' is as deep as they come.  Whilst there also enough sludgy basslines to keep the nu breed happy.

CD2 standouts range from the deeply twisted and techy DMX from Kevin Gorman, classy acid house from Jamie Anderson & Jess Rose with their take on 'Jack your body', the haunted '37' from Huntemann, the german sounding prog of Sebastien San's 'Wuxia' and the tech filth of Rebecca Von Kalinowshy's 'Dance'.

When I was and the rave fire was just starting to burn in the Northwest, we called this Hardbeat. Dance music from Germany that is as dark as the night. Almost twenty years later, DJ Hell is still on it and he has dropped a wicked mix for all lovers of robotic influenced club music - Mr Mutdog (Skiddle.com)"
