Digitalism and Gary Numan headline The Playground Festival

London party starters The Playground return this summer with their annual two day festival, this time held at Brixton Academy from 7th-8th June.

Headlining the  festive over two nights are Digitalism and Gary Numan, joined by some of the biggest names in electronic music including Derrick May, Kevin Saunderson, Unkle's James Lavelle, Booka Shade, James Zabiela and Kavinsky. 

This year's festival takes place at the 4000 Brixton Academy, bringing in over 8000 electronic music fans across two hedonistic nights. 

Topping Friday's bill is a rare live performance from electronic duo Digitalism. Known for their breakthrough single ‘Pogo’, Digitalism have been a huge driving force in underground electronic music and their critically acclaimed live show takes pride of place at the top of the bill. Joining Digitalism on the Friday will be one of the founding members of alternative electronic duo Unkle and long-serving resident at Fabric; James Lavelle. Also confirmed for the Friday are German house duo Booka Shade, star of the 'Drive' soundtrack and purveyor of dark 80s infused electro Kavinsky, James Zabiela and DJ Hell. 

Saturday night headliner Gary Numan needs little introduction. Since his groundbreaking work and named as one of the figureheads of the electronic movement in the late 70s and early 80s, Gary Numan has been a pioneer of forward-thinking electronic music and a living legend to the UK’s musical history. 

Joining Gary on the Saturday will be two of the founding fathers of the Detroit house scene, Derrick May and Kevin Saunderson, who together reinvented the house sound in the 80s and have gone on to be two of the most respected tastemakers on the scene today.

John Foxx & The Maths, the new project from original Ultravox vocalist, John Foxx are also confirmed for Saturday, along with founding member of electronic pioneers Kraftwerk, Wolfgang Flur.

Other acts set to appear across the weekend include Pantha Du Prince, Tokimonsta, X-Press 2, Nathan Fake, Luke Vibert, Luke Solomon, Boddika, and many more.
