Mez Sanders-Green is the frontman of Hull punk band, LIFE.

“Oi oi we’re LIFE, a community-driven band hailing from that 'oft forgotten northern city, Hull.

"People group us with bands like IDLES, Fontaines DC, The Fall and Parquet Courts, but we’d rather you make your own mind up and just escape into the grooves of our most recent album, A Picture of Good Health.

"The album means the world to us and the sessions were totally therapeutic, helping us deal with scars from our personal lives and put them to bed.

"We recorded with Luke Smith (Foals, Everything Everything, Depeche Mode) and it was mixed by Claudius Mittendorfer (Parquet Courts, Yak, Weezer). The album was BBC 6Music’s 'Album Of The Day', BBC Radio 1’s 'Album Of The Weekend', and was also one of the 6Music 'Albums of The Year'!"

“We had such an amazing year on the road playing shows across the UK, America and Europe, alongside some super fun festivals. We can’t wait to do it all again and share music experiences as a collective once more.

"We hope you are all safe and well and looking after one another at this time. Love is everything and music is our love. Please take care."

Is there a record you can't stop playing right now?

“I've been listening to Marlon Williams self titled album from 2016.”

How many records do you personally own?

“I've only got vinyl in my current flat as I gave all my CDs to charity. I've got three crates of vinyl in my front room and Stew our drummer has a wall of wax.”

What’s the weirdest, rarest or most expensive record you own?

“I've got a Bruce Willis 7-inch that I've never listened to, but I had to get it just because it's Bruce. I robbed an original Never Mind the Bollocks off my Dad when I moved out and still have it!”

If you could only play one record for the rest of your life, what would it be?

“Anything by Leonard Cohen, but at present maybe Songs of Love and Hate, as my brother got me it at Christmas and it’s been on heavy rotation in the dark evenings since.”

Give us your top 3 recent releases.

“Last year's records by Fontaines DC, Fat White Family & Julia Jacklin.”

Which new artist/band/DJ should we be listening to right now?

“Serial Chiller from Hull are something special; slacker pop with a lyrical genius in their singer Sam.”

Do you have a musical guilty pleasure?

“Bing Crosby in the winter months, Steely Dan in the summer.”

Best live performance you’ve ever seen?

“LCD Soundsystem, The Pixies, The Strokes and The Fall.”

If you could collaborate with any artist, dead or alive, who would it be?

“Alive: James Murphy/LCD Soundsystem or Jarvis Cocker, Dead: Mark E Smith.”
