Spectacular. Stunning. Brilliant.

Just a few of the adjectives used by reviewers to describe Porridge Radio's latest album, Every Bad, which follows their 2016 debut, 'Rice, Pasta And Other Fillers’.

Formed in Brighton around five years ago, the DIY indie darlings have been touted by some for a Mercury Prize nomination, and were due to play a number of major shows this summer including Bluedot and Green Man festivals.

But then Coronavirus happened and, well, you know the rest...

Frontwoman Dana Margolin says: "We've just released an album called 'Every Bad' on Secretly Canadian. We've been a band for about five years, playing loads of shows around the UK DIY scene and releasing on the DIY label Memorials of Distinction. We used to all live in Brighton, but now we are split between Brighton and London. Luckily there are loads of amazing bands, artists and promoters in both cities so we’ve always had shows to go to and scenes to be a part of, which is how we figured out how to play music the way we wanted to.”

Is there a record you can't stop playing right now?

“I keep coming back to Sorry's new album. I think it's amazing.”

How many records do you personally own?

“No idea. Are you talking vinyls, CDs, digital? Do I have to count? Not so many that I don't want more, but enough that I am satisfied with what I have.”

What’s the weirdest, rarest or most expensive record you own?

“I saw today that our first album is stupidly going for £100 on eBay right now - so that's the most expensive record I own.”

If you could only play one record for the rest of your life, what would it be?

“Anything I say here I’d regret when I could only play it for the rest of my life. Maybe a Modest Mouse record because they are a band I’ve not tired of since I first heard them aged around thirteen.”

Give us your top 3 recent releases.

Sorry, ‘925’; Fiona Apple, ‘Fetch The Bolt Cutters’; NNamdi, ‘BRAT’.”

Which new artist/band/DJ should we be listening to right now?

Drug Store Romeos are amazing.”

Do you have a musical guilty pleasure?

“I never feel guilty about liking things.”

Best live performance you’ve ever seen?

“I hate choosing a ‘best’ anything because I change my mind depending on my mood. I loved watching Big Thief at Green Man festival last summer - they made me cry.”

If you could collaborate with any artist, dead or alive, who would it be?

Dolly Parton.”
