Two UK festivals have been cancelled in as many days as Met Office weather warnings put pay to tens of thousands of festival-goer's weekend plans.
Over 50,000 people were left disappointed as Newquay festival, Boardmasters - which was set to welcome Foals, Wu Tang Clan and Florence + The Machine - was called just hours before opening on Wednesday 7 August, while on Thursday Norfolk's Houghton Festival - featuring Ricardo, Four Tet and Ben UFO - was also cancelled, as heavy rain, thunderstorms and winds of up to 60mph threatened to batter the event.
Organisers of both events have expressed their deep regrets, but say that 'safety concerns' take priority, and have promised to release refund information in due course.
Of course, the cancellation of a festival is no laughing matter. But as you'd expect, in the face of disappointment and adversity, the Great British public have reacted with typical stoicism and humour (well, some have).
