Well that didn't take long.

Last week we reported on the reopening of Ibiza (and the rest of Spain) following the outbreak of COVID-19, with the Spanish prime minister Pedro Sánchez announcing that foreign tourists would be able to travel from July 1st.

Just over a week later and venues on the White Isle are beginning to spring back to life.

Today both Ibiza Rocks and O Beach have announced plans to reopen from the beginning of July.

In a statement on Facebook, Ibiza Rocks said: "We are delighted to announce some good news from Ibiza...

"Due to being a well-established, open-air day venue, we are considered one of the safest environments to party in Ibiza, and we're really excited to be able to bring you a series of brand new 'Poolside Sessions' from July 1st."

Meanwhile, O Beach posted a video to Facebook, saying: "Your favourite day club is reopening next month, including some changes to ensure the health and safety of both our guests and staff and in order to respect social distancing, but you’ll still be able to join us and relax poolside.

"We’ve missed you all and while the pace of our day-to-day events will temporarily be at a slower tempo than what you’re used to, you can still expect the same luxury experience from us."

Positive news then for the island and for the 870,000 UK tourists who descend on it each year. Well, there's a couple of little problems...

The UK Foreign Office is still advising ‘against all but essential international travel’ and has said that from June 8th anyone arriving in the UK - including UK nationals - will have to self-quarantine for two weeks.

Added to that, Spain’s tourism minister has just banned UK tourists until our COVID-19 outlook "improves".
