Twelve independent record stores from across the world will unite on Friday 3rd July and Saturday 4th July for two twelve-hour streaming sessions.

The Move The Record initiative has been devised 'in response to the uncertain future that independent record stores are facing worldwide' in the wake of the Coronavirus outbreak.

Residents and special guests will each perform a two hour set at their respective record stores - from Haûs Record Store in Buenos Aires to Phonica in London and Deficit in Moscow.

The other stores taking part are: Sound Architecture x Ampere (Antwerp); KMA60 (Berlin); All City (Dublin); Serendeepity (Milan); Filter Musikk (Oslo); Carpet & Snares (Lisbon); Ater Cosmo x Stardust (Madrid); Halcyon x ReSolute (New York) and RS94109 (San Francisco).

Discounts of up to 20% will be available for each of the stores online for 48 hours, in order to encourage collectors to invest in their local spots.

Supporters can also get involved in a sweepstakes with a chance to win vinyl, hardware, studio sessions, production courses and merchandise (100% of proceeds will be distributed among the participating stores).

One of those involved in the project is DJ and producer Dana Ruh: "We all — artists, clubs, labels, distribution, pressing plants — are facing uncertain times as a direct result of the Covid crisis.

"Our industry is all connected, and many people have already lost their jobs. Clubs are closed; performing artists have lost their primary source of income; record stores — our cultural hubs of community and discovery — are struggling to stay afloat. So on July 3 and 4, myself and 11 other stores around the world will come together to support one another. It’s all connected. We are all connected.”
