Festival season is in full swing at Festival HQ, with the stereo a constant purr of the people we're expecting to light up our summer (check our playlists for Wireless and Reading and Leeds as evidence of that). This afternoon however we've reverted to a group that dominated it for us last year and who will be off to Bestival this summer, Foals, with last year's triumphant pop classic Holy Fire rippling through our speakers (listen with us below on Spotify).

2013 was the year that Oxford's art rockers ripped up their awkward and angular methods of previous albums and embraced the joy of a more simplistic approach, with devastating effects. 'My Number' was a perfect slab of radio haven, which alongside the slinky grooves of 'Inhaler' announced that the group would be mining a different path before the record was released.

That's not to say the lavish touches and thoughtfulness that characterised the group was completely lost. 'Milk & Black Spiders' is the kind of lush, euphoric track that powers through your ears with its intricacy, and the same high end production values and meticulous instrumentation is still a big feature, just not an overpowering one. The result is an album which has got us all wistfully looking to the summer again.

The group are currently on a live UK tour, but if you didn't manage to get tickets for those shows then there's an afterparty for the Manchester show that has them DJing at the Deaf Institute on Saturday 8th February, where you'll get the chance to listen to the wide variety of music that gets the group moving. Head here for ticketing information.
