P is for Platt Fields Park

Parklife Weekender takes place in Platt Fields Park in south Manchester, which is located on the edge of Manchester's student land of Fallowfield. Earlier this year organisers announced that this would be the festival's last time at Platt Fields, with the event moving to a new, larger location next year to cater for increased demand. Find out more about the move from Platt Fields

A is for after parties

The worst bit about Parklife? Closing time. The last thing we're going to want to do after such an amazing day is go home. Thankfully, organisers have thought about that and arranged a selection of after parties across the city to cater for Parklifers of every musical persuasion. From Art Department and Space Dimension Controller at Sankeys to Goldierocks, Murkage and Juicy at the Ram & Shackle, there's an after party for every kind of Parklifer. Find out more and get your after party tickets in advance as capacities are strictly limited.

R is for Rascal

He's just a Rascal, a Dizzee Rascal. And he's headlining Parklife Weekender on Sunday. Showcasing the back catalogue of hits that's seen him scoop The Mercury Prize, two Brit Awards and countless other accolades over the past decade, everyone's favourite raaaasclart headlines a Sunday line-up that includes Labrinth, Justice, Annie Mac, The Rapture, Erol Alkan, High Contrast, Maya Jane-Coles and many more. There are still some tickets left for Sunday at Parklife - go get 'em!

K is for Kaluki

Monthly Manchester night Kaluki are leaving their Sankeys home on Saturday to host their own arena at Parklife Weekender, in association with yours truly. The Kaluki and Skiddle.com arena will be headlined by Kaluki heroine Heidi, and features an all day line-up of Kaluki residents and favourites including James Mile, Luca Bear, Romano Alfieri and Marco Effe. We chatted to Kaluki founder Lee Spence - aka Ellesse - recently to find out more about the Kaluki arena at Parklife. Read that here

L is for 'Le Freak'

'Aaaaaah… Freak Out!' Saturday sees disco legends Chic ft Nile Rodgers return to Manchester following their incredible performance at last year's Warehouse Project. Responsible for some of the biggest hits in the world ever, the legendary Nile Rodgers apparently enjoyed his time in Manchester so much that he wanted to return and do it all again. Check out this recent interview with The Guardian, in which Mr Rodgers says some very complimentary thing about the city. Especially the Mancunian ladies.

I is for Ian Brown

The Manchester icon played on the Friday night before the very first Parklife event two years ago. His headline slot at Platt Fields Park on June 11th 2010 came before the then one-day festival, as part of a weekend long musical treat organised by the WHP/Parklife team. The huge homecoming show also featured UNKLE, Bad Lieutenant, Peter Hook, The Whip, Mr Scruff and A Certain Ratio.

F is for Flaming Lips

Wayne Coyne's merry band of cosmic space rockers return to the North West on Saturday to headline day one of Parklife Festival - and if their appearance last summer at Jodrell Bank is anything to go by it's going to be completely unmissable. Expect zorbing, confetti, lasers, lights, mesmerising visuals and an on-stage carnival as the band take Parklifers on a journey through their huge back catalogue of hits. If you've never seen The Flaming Lips live, then you're in for a treat. Don't miss it.

E is for Enjoyment

Because, after all, that's what it's all about. ENJOY YOURSELF!
