Teenage Fan Club Added to Wickerman Line-Up 

Glasgow legends Teenage Fanclub have grabbed one of the final few main stage slots at this Summer’s Wickerman Festival.

Described by many as the “Perennial Scottish Act”, Teenage Fanclub have won over a die-hard following since their formation in 1989.

Consistently popular, especially amongst the student population, Teenage Fanclub has carved a niche which embraces pop, alternative and indie styles of music.

Also known as “The Bellshill Beach Boys”, which is a reference to both their origin and musical influences, the Fanclub will be releasing a new single called Baby Lee on the 24th May.

When asked about performing at the festival Teenage Fanclub front man Norman Blake said "Really happy to be playing the Wickerman. I actually have a little piece of the original Wickerman that was burnt at the end of the movie. My friend 'acquired' it for me about ten years ago before the remaining stumps were stolen from Burrowhead."

The booking follows hot on the heels of other recent announcements which will see The Charlatans and Ocean Colour Scene heading up an eclectic billing at the July event.

Taking place on picturesque farmland in the South of Scotland the festival is recognised for its diverse booking policy and family friendly credentials.

Other notable acts on the 2010 line up include Sunderland’s The Futureheads, veteran singer Tony Christie, tongue in cheek mayhem from The Saw Doctors and Welsh boys Goldie Lookin Chain.

Fans of old style punk will also be treated to performances in the Scooter Tent from The Undertones and The Buzzcocks.

Festival Director Sid Ambrose said “We have over 100 acts across eight stages, with our aim being to make the Wickerman one of the most eclectic on the festival circuit.”

Around 15,000 revellers are expected to gather at the festival on the 23rd and 24th July at East Kirkcarswell Farm, near Dundrennan.
