Arguably one of the most popular destinations for jet setting festival-goers, sunny Spain is the cultural base for many of Europe’s finest music events. And for good reason.

Boasting infinite golden beaches, crystal clear seas and wall to wall sunshine throughout the festival season, the Iberian Peninsula attracts hundreds and thousands of revellers, along with many of the world’s biggest music stars, year after year.

With this in mind, we’ve put together a list of the very best music festivals in Spain. Join us in bidding farewell to the typically damp British summertime and say "hola" to the warmer, dryer, and more inviting climate of España in 2022.

2022 Headliners: Bonobo, Moderat, The Chemical Brothers

When: Thursday 16th - Saturday 18th June

Where: Various venues, Barcelona

Sonar Barcelona, and co-existing "unofficial" week-long fringe event, OFFSonar, are at the forefront of global electronic music events, bringing a heap of cutting-edge electronic acts and DJs to the city year after year.

Sonar - which now attracts 100,000 people over three days and nights - has been bumping tunes through the city since 1994. Over the years, it has attracted the likes of Björk, Kraftwerk, The Chemical Brothers, Pet Shop Boys and DJs including Laurent Garnier, Sven Väth and Nicholas Jaar. If big names, festival stages and larger crowds are your bag, Sonar is the one for you.

But if you're after more intimate sets inside more unique venues (including a monastery), the week-long OFFSonar programme might be more your bag. OFFSonar offers the chance to catch some of the main festival's biggest acts, but in smaller venues right across the city.

Or, you know, go to both. Why not?

Captured Festival

(This embedded post has since been removed)

2022 Headliners: TBA

When: TBA

Where: TBA

Nearest airport: Ibiza Airport (IBZ) – 20km to venue

Sadly, Captured Festival had to be cancelled in 2021 due to, surprise, COVID-19. But hopefully, it’ll be back this year with another killer festival to leave us with tired legs, a huge smile and that warm afterglow only a festival can give.

Although we’ve yet to hear any announcements just yet, the festival is usually held in Benimussa Park in San Antonio, Ibiza. Also known as the old zoo, the festival site is known for its many abandoned animal cages. It also has a pool, a 600-capacity indoor club, and open-air spaces for music fans to enjoy. In an isolated green park, we can’t think of a better place to let go and enjoy blissful trance tunes with other music lovers.

We can’t wait for this unreal, trance-focused festival to come back with a bang in 2022.
