The Hive Heritage Hub At The New Standard Works venue information

The Hive Heritage Hub is a new edition to the New Standard Works building, owned and operated by the Ruskin Mill Land Trust with funding from the HLF. Ruskin Mill Land Trust has been refurbishing the building in stages. The first stage saw the development of the first floor into a specialist educational college for young people with learning difficulties and complex needs which is run by its sister charity Ruskin Mill Trust. The second phase was to create the café and bakery on the ground floor and the urban roof top micro farm.

The Hive JQ now offers a creative space where lots of activities and interpretation of the building is held - exploring different trades, innovations, and inventions and have temporary exhibitions about trades and communities of the JQ - both traditional, and contemporary.

We offer a very 'hands on' experience, and seek to tell more hidden social histories of the JQ; women, children, Deaf and Disabled workers. There is also be an area for people to come in and do some research on the quarter. As well as the Heritage Hub, there is a Makers Craft Studio and two artist workshops. From summer 2019, we will also be opening our gallery and student exhibition spaces.
