Rainy Day Woman is an acoustic folk duo comprising of Hannah Pawson and Gabriel Wynne. Their debut EP Gallows Green is a collection of songs about the resilience of women. Whilst hopeful in its conclusion, the EP expresses some of the darkness in living with past mistakes, reconciling oneself with change and the breakdown of once vital relationships.
Drawing from alt-country, bluegrass and the folk canon of an 'old, weird America', Rainy Day Woman play sparse, unhurried folk music. Releasing their second EP ‘Home’ in January 2020, the young duo have been playing their unique songs - complete with desire, betrayal, pub lore and feminist rage - to audiences in the UK and Australia.
Rainy Day Woman have been gigging around the UK since 2016, with notable past shows including London Folkroom, Birmingham Symphony Hall, Coventry’s Big Comfy Bookshop and Sofar Sounds shows in London, Bristol and Birmingham. Autumn 2019 saw their first Australian tour, including dates at Sydney’s Humph Hall and Canberra’s Smith’s Alternative.
“A genuine joy live, Rainy Day Woman’s music is bright, light and effortlessly gorgeous. Hannah and Gabriel pull off something magical every time... A real joy to watch, without fail.” Folkroom Records, London
