To mark its milestone anniversary, Goose Island Beer Co, the award-winning Chicago brewery, have teamed up with the world-famous Fuller’s Brewery of London, to create a one-off 30th Anniversary Ale. A collaboration between the two breweries, that is thirty years in the making.
In 1988, Goose Island founder, John Hall was inspired to start brewing his own beer back in Chicago, after enjoying the best that Britain had to offer whilst travelling across Europe. Hall was most inspired by the beer that was being brewed along the Thames in Chiswick by Fuller’s Brewery, in particular London Pride.
Time may have flown by, but three decades later, the two breweries have collaborated on a special one-off pale ale, which marries together beer and brewing styles from both sides of the Atlantic. The Anniversary Ale use all English Malt and those typically bold American dry hops.
The limited edition 30th Anniversary Ale (ABV 6%) is set to please with its deep flavour of biscuit and light caramel malt coming from the classic English malt, which joins a hop aroma of oak and coconut, followed by a tropical and citrus fruit. All of this coming from the hops, Denali and Hop 472, and an experimental unnamed hop that is cultivated on Goose Island Hop Farm in Idaho, Elk Mountain Hop Farms.
British beer fans can get their hands on a pint of the 30th Anniversary Ale for one night only at an event at Fuller’s pub The Hydrant, Monument in London on 30th May. Guests will enjoy exclusive tastings from Goose Island’s, Ken Stout and Fuller’s, John Keeling. As well as delightful food and beer pairings, and some fun and games chucked in for good measure.
