I first met Dangerous Dan in a little box up some rickety old stairs. No it wasn't in his treehouse where he played with his action men. It was actually up in the crows nest DJ box at the old Labrynth club in Dalston East London.
It was a monumental moment for me I'd climbed those death trap stairs just to give him the first ever test press copy of Sing it loud by me and Wishdokta. He gave me a super strange look as if to say who the fook are you, and what the fook are you doing in my box, ( ooh err ).
He thought I was some Mentalised Raver coming up for a wonder waffle. And as there's just about room for one person in there not to mention two I can understand his stress. When I told him who I was and gave him the track he cooled down a bit, which was hard because it was 7 million degrees in there and Dan looked like he'd just got out of a sauna, then got caught in a mad monsoon.
A very quick meeting but one I won't forget for many reasons. Dan wrote a track review for Double Dipped magazine, and he put it as his number 1 tune, and gave it 5 out of 5, Thank you Dan. That was the start of our 21 year friendship, and Thanks to a good word or 2 from him to Joe the Labrynth promoter I also graced the Dalston death stairs many times as a Dj not just a Nutbag begging DJ's to play his tune.
That was 1993 and me and Dangerous Dan have had many more mad meetings, He really is a Super Character who I admire in so many ways, Keep Rockin Danny Boy, Here's to you and all the great things you've achieved through the years due to all your hard work and commitment, Well Done Sunbeam, Shanus V. Ps I still don't know if he played my tune on that night. I wonder,,,,,,,,
