Over the past couple of weeks, Highest Point Festival have been running a competition for local Lancashire bands to open their main stage. After a public vote whittling it down to just five bands, Chris Hawkins of BBC Radio 6 Music had to decide the winner, and he has today announced that winner to be Morecambe locals IndifferentMonKeY!

Alongside the already epic proposition of opening a festival main stage that will see the likes of Tom Odell, Cat Burns, Sam Ryder, and LOWES play later in the day, the band will also receive a £500 fee, a bundle of Highest Point merch, weekend tickets for the band, food & drinks, and guest list spots for their top fans!

The latest single from the band - Total Love

IndifferentMonKeY are a Morcambe-based, trip-rock four-piece made up of Ellie Knowles, Joe Lowe, Brendan Syson and Graham Darbyshire.

Having in the past won the Best Band of 2022 at the Radio Wig Wam awards in London and released their debut album 'Love and Peace'. The band have also played at other local festivals including School Aid 2023 and Lancaster Music Festival 2022.

On the win, Chris Hawkins said: "It was a really tough decision, and I agonised over who should win. Because getting to play on a festival main stage, on the same stage as Tom O'Dell and Cat Burns and Sam Ryder and LOWES, it's a big deal, it's a chance to make your mark.

"However the winners, IndifferentMonKeY, who are from Morcombe, so just up the road and around the corner, they're kind of like a trip-hop indie-rock hybrid band, which is really my thing. I just love their sound and I think there's huge potential for them to go on to big things and hopefully, this appearance at Highest Point will help them on their journey."

We can't wait to see what IndifferentMonKeY bring to the Highest Point main stage, but we know one thing for sure, they're going to make it their biggest and best show to date!
