Four-time Grammy Award winner Stanley Clarke is making a rare trip to the UK to perform live. He will appear with his band at The Stoller Hall in Manchester on Tuesday 30th October and Fiddlers in Bristol on Thursday 1st November 2018.

Undoubtedly one of the most celebrated acoustic and electric bass players in the world, Clarke is regarded as a pioneering and pivotal figure in 1970's jazz-fusion, but is also an arranger and a composer of music for television and film.

He founded one of the very first bands to be associated with the jazz fusion genre, Return To Forever, in 1973 alongside Chick Corea. Such was the dexterity of his playing in the group and the prominent position he placed the bass within the their overall sound, he was immediately offered work by jazz legends Bill Evans and Miles Davis. He turned them down and stayed with the group until 1977.

Having graduated at Philadelphia Academy of Music, it was in New York City that Clarke earned his reputation, playing alongside the likes of Horace Silver, Art Blakey, Dexter Gordon, Joe Henderson, Pharaoh Sanders, Gil Evans and Stan Getz from the early 70s.He has since played with a host of other famous names, both from inside and out of the jazz world, including Rolling Stones Ronnie Wood and Keith Richards, George Duke, Stewart Copeland of The Police, banjo maestro Béla Fleck and electric violinist Jean-Luc Ponty.
