Mercury Prize shortlist 2015 revealed

See who is nominated for the best album from the UK and Ireland.

The shortlist of 12 Albums of the Year was announced exclusively on BBC Radio 6 Music this morning by Lauren Laverne.

It was chosen from a longlist of over 290 albums and includes seven debut albums. Corinne Bailey Rae, NME Editor Greg Cochrane and Mistajam were amongst the judges for this year's selections.

This year will see the likes of Jamie XX go head to head with Slaves (read our review of the album here). The nominations highlight the popularity of experimental over traditional forms. You can see the list in full below:
