Mr Scruff?s Keep it Unreal returns to Band on the Wall on Saturday 3rd October, off the back of a triumphant night for the Manchester jazz festival, with guest selector Kelvin Brown adding to the melting pot of musical forms. Have a listen back to the August Keep it Unreal here

Once again, Mr Scruff hits us with 5 killer records ahead of the night, dipping into some house, acid tinged electronica, jazz and world music...prepare your ears!

Henry Wu 'Good Morning Peckham'

'Warm, fuzzy, late night session business. Great 6 track ep of hazy house & downbeat, with a real spring in its step.'

Henry Wu - Good Morning Peckham

Aphex Twin 'Orphaned Deejay Selek 2006-08'

'Proper acid excursions, including a couple of wriggly downtempo numbers. Do this man's archives know know end?'

Aphex Twin - Orphaned Deejay Selek 2006-2008

Singers & Players 'War of Words'

'Stunning LP, originally released on 99 records in 1981. If You have any time for Dub Syndicate, African Head Charge, Creation Rebel, Bim Sherman, then you need to own this album.'

Singers & Players - War of Words

The Polyversal Souls 'Invisible Joy'

'Drummer Max Weissenfeldt from the Whitefield Brothers/Poets of Rhythm's latest project is a proper round-the world affair, taking in Ghanaian, Ethiopian, Jamaican, Duke Ellington, Sun Ra into a very fresh tasting, raw melting pot. No bland overcooking here!'

The Polyversal Souls - Invisible Joy

Matthew Halsall & The Gondwana Orchestra 'Into Forever'

'Another amazing album from Matthew, really love the tracks featuring the vocals of fellow Mancunian Josephine Oniyama.'

Matthew Halsall & The Gondwana Orchestra - Into Forever
