Not everyone is ensconced in love on Valentine's Day, or at least within the cliched version of it. There's many who want to stick two fingers up at romantic meals, time together away and the more obvious routes of showing someone you love by surrounding themselves in electronic music. Or there's those single folk who care so little they want a good old rave.

Valentines Day 2014 falls on a Friday, so there's more than one or two options of this ilk for you to do so. One involves Manchester clubnight the Murkage Club hopping down the spine of the country to head to London for the first time, taking their brand of bass focused clubbing to Brixton's Plan B.

There they will be joined by Deadboy, whose ability to weld R&B with house, detroit technoi and garage saw him earmarked by plenty as one of the most vibrant producers of the decade so far. His productions on Numbers and Well Rounded have been matched with lavish praise form tastemakers such as Little White Earbuds, xlr8r and Pitchfork.

If R&B forms the fulcrum of Deadboy's platte, Murlo swings more towards to a more Caribbean influence, curating an ability to weave soca, dancehall and bashment to the rougher strains of house, grime and garage. His recent guest mix for Rinse FM demonstrates this acumen perfectly above, offering a snapshot of an evening more influenced by Lover's Rock than love this V Day.

Murkage will also bring three of their established resident and friends in the shape of Phaze One - Star One, Madam X and Klepto, all contributing to an alternative Valentines option. Head here for more info.
