Prince is set to release a new album with his band 3RDEYEGIRL titled HITNRUN exclusively on Jay-Z's Tidal streaming service on 7th September.

Ahead of the release, Prince met with a group of journalists at Paisley Park Studios in Minneapolis and explained his partnership with Tidal and spoke negatively of record contracts.

"Record contracts are just like — I'm gonna say the word – slavery," Prince told the 10 journalists. "I would tell any young artist ... don't sign."

He said that working with Tidal would give him more freedom to collaborate, and stressed how important it is that artists control as much of the revenue from their work as possible.

Prince also explained that streaming services cut out the middle man so that record companies can't take a share.

'Hardrocklover' (listen above) is the album's first single. The band have described it as, "hit after hit and definitely caters to those fans who just love to hear what Prince has to say, rather than wanting to always hear that classic Purple Rain Prince sound."
