As soon as we heard the menacing psych monster that is FEWS debut single 'ILL' we were hooked. They marginally adjusted their sights to chiming melodic guitars and breakneck rhythm - for the following singles - and then unleashed the brooding beast that is their debut album MEANS

The Dan Carey produced record is laced with pulsating rhythm and razor-sharp riffs - a captivating repertoire when slung into the live arena. The band recently announced their first headline tour for October and dropped single '10 Things' (listen below).

Before that bassist Jay checked in with some record selections ahead of a date at Hare and Hounds in Birmingham on Wednesday 20th July and a slot at Secret Garden Party this weekend.

First up, your latest release in your own words?

A cheeky album called MEANS released through Play It Again Sam. First one in my life.

One record to wake up to in the morning?

John Maus 'We Must Become....' The blue one.

By order of the court all records should be burnt, you can only keep three from your collection...

Interpol 'Turn On The Bright Lights', Jónsi and Alex 'Riceboy Sleeps' and anything with Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.

One for the road?

Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavilion.

You walk into a bar and too your surprise someone is blaring your song out of the juxebox, your dreams have been realised, who is it?

Sean Connery.

The party is reaching a slumping, everyone is getting drunkenly prophetic - what do you put on to lift things?

Zonderling - Sonderling.

Probably the best album ever…
