Fetish nights are a rare breed in north, with very few regular nights outside of London.  Launching a successful night can be hard work, as there are many things that might put a first timer off – will it be a swinger’s night in disguise? (This is often the case with smaller events) Will it be too play orientated? Will it be too much like a goth night? Will the crowd be friendly enough for a single person to go alone?

So taking all these factors into consideration, I was eager to see what Kinky in Leeds was all about.

The event runs from 5pm until 10pm. According to kinky this was so that people could easily travel to and from the event which I thought was a great idea, especially a night so new, as it allowed for newbie’s to go and check the night out without having to worry about getting expensive taxis home if they didn’t like it.

This month Kinky in Leeds was having a Christmas special, with Christmas décor, Christmas crackers on tables by the stage, and Christmas themed entertainment including a tongue in cheek fetish pantomime, as well as mince pies and sweets being handed out.  The pantomime was absolutely fantastic.  Such entertainment often runs the risk of not making the crowd laugh, but the crowd loved it, there wasn’t a straight face in the house, clearly a lot of time and effort had gone into the production.

The pantomime was broken into three acts, with a fashion show in between each act, covering everything from couture latex accessories to vintage lingerie. The shows were a little more than just your standard runway, and had been well choreographed, so were both entertaining, as well as an opportunity to see some gorgeous designs on beautiful local models!

There was some great fetish equipment in designated curtained off areas, which meant that playing wasn’t been done in front of everyone, which meant that those who were a bit shyer got the opportunity to use them, and also that it wasn’t been rubbed in the faces of those who hadn’t come to the event for those reasons.  The people in charge of the equipment were very encouraging for people to have a go and extremely friendly, which isn’t always the case.  I noticed that great care was also been taken by those in charge to make sure that all playing going on was within everyone’s personal levels, with safety coming first.

The event had also attracted the fantastic Wendy House DJs, which provided music throughout the night of varying tastes, predominantly metal and industrial which worked really well with the feel of the event, and gave the option of having a dance, as there was plenty of designated space on the dance floor.

I really enjoyed how the event genuinely offered something to everyone, rather than just being play or socially orientated, giving everyone the opportunity to try something new.  More than one person I know who had shied away from playing at other events found themselves in the stocks getting a ‘well deserved spanking’, and then dancing with some of the lovely models and acts of the evening, whilst eating a mince pie.  I can honestly say I’ve never been to an event with such a vibe – a mix of a fetish night, and a ‘munch’.

10/10 Kinky in Leeds, I know for one I’ll be eagerly awaiting your next event!!
