We've had some absolutely booming nights, featuring our favorite acts, like the Stanton Warriors, Plump DJs, Elite Force, A Skillz, Gorgon City, James Lavelle and Alex Metric. All of them partnered with the super talented Lowdown residents. All played incredible sets and always accompanied by one of the most enthusiastic and genuinely fun loving crowds that a night could ask for. In fact, the guest DJs regularly comment about how much they love the Lowdown crowd.

In March we won Best Small Event at the Breakspoll International Breakbeat Awards (that's two years running) and took Lowdown to Budapest and blew the roof off the fabulous Be Massive at Club Corvinteto with its amazing LED roof lighting.

Sadly, in April, we lost a very dear friend and Lowdown regular, John Hatfield. John was always at the front, hands in the air and going for it with an infectious smile on his face. He was The Rave Weapon and to us, he will always be at the front of that fabulous crowd.

Galvanized by the need to celebrate life, we went into the summer with a mission to keep the beats going and the crowds bouncing. The Lowdown residents played some wild and varied sets at a load of cracking festivals, including Beatherder, Wickerman and Kendal Calling and of course there were the boat parties including the now legendary Elite Force boat party down in London on the hottest and sweatiest day of the year.

As Autumn dropped, Lowdown was back home at Sound Control, with a new look and a new initiative, the Lowdown DJ Academy. The academy aims to give new and untested DJs the chance to play alongside well established acts in a proper club. So far it's been a great success and we've seen a couple of acts who's careers we'll be watching with interest.

By winter we were snowballing. First we were blown away by the super talented Alex Metric, who destroyed us with a mind blowing set of utter electronic joy; and if that wasn't enough, dub, big beat legends, the Dub Pistols, blew us away with a punk inspired full live show.

And we ended the year in style with one of our Lowdown favorites, the Stanton Warriors, had Sound Control packed to the sweaty walls on two floors and they absolutely blew us away. The party atmosphere was incredible and once again, the crowd didn't let us down.

So that was 2013 for Lowdown. For us, it was life affirming and amazing. We've met some amazing people, seen some incredible shows and partied hard with one of the best and most genuine crowds around. Thank you so much to everyone involved, the residents, the Sound Control management and staff, the DJs and of course our family of clubbers.

Have a brilliant Christmas and a cracking new year. Here's looking forward to another amazing year in 2014, see you at our 4th Birthday Party.

Big love,

Lowdown Crew. AKA: Steve Thorpe, Resistance, Ben Taylor, Mark McIver and Nick Howard
