Review of Wolfgang Flur (Ex-Kraftwerk) + B-Movie

Great night of electronica and nostalgia. It was my first visit to the Flapper and the Seventh Wave Festival and I was not disappointed I remembered B- Movie from my youth and it was lovely to see them eventually and they mingled with the crowd later a smashing band. First we had Ten Ten a one man wave of electronic grooves excellent. Wolfgang Flur was awesome great video show to accompany the music to. I shall return!

I travelled down from Chesterfield really to see B- Movie as I'm a B- movie fan not Wolfgang Flur...so only watched B- movie who were superb astonishingly atmospheric, Steve Hovingtons vocals glided effortlessly through the array of songs old and new... Impressive and left me delighted.
I found the venue as I imagined it to be, slightly dark with a rocky feel about it, I had a couple of beers before the concert in the upstairs bar, no complaints about the beer and price was reasonable. The down stairs concert room is intimate not oversized. There is a complaint though, the food for sale, limited to pizzas only, a fiver for a large pizza box sadly upon opening the box I found a small pizza less than half the size of the box it's served in, the taste.... Hmmm I would imagine the box would taste better.

And Also The Trees never fail to create incredibly atmospheric gigs and their latest album showcased here is another superb collection of songs. The music remains intense with filmic qualities and Simon's poetic lyrics evoke situations with passion. Great drummer too!

Amazing gig! Fantastic atmosphere and great venue! And Also The Trees are out of this World! Fabulous new band members and another outstanding album! I'm a huge fan of theirs, they are in my top 5! Love their music and live performance! The Humdrum Express was a pleasant surprise. Wonderful night with beautiful people! Thanks to everyone for making it a memorable night! :)

Didn't catch more than a few seconds of the support band, but Los Bolts put on an excellent gig and the Flapper's cellar-like stage area suited the warmth of the lyrics and Jeffrey Lewis' delivery. Nice crowd too.

Another great and varied performance from Jeffrey and band. From old to new his lyricism and indie folk delivery makes you smile and feel completely engaged. Venue was just right as well - small and intimate.
