Review of Jika Jika Festival 2021
I normally really enjoy jika jika however this one was very poorly set up. I attended on Saturday and I spent over 3 hours of my night quieing which meant I was unable to enjoy the actual event and missed most of it due to the set up. I qued for over an hour just to get in, 45 mins just to put money on my wristband and about 2 hours just to get a drink which left me with only 1 and half hours left of the night. truly disappointed as I was really looking forward to this. I did enjoy the last hour and a half but would have liked to have enjoyed alot more of the acts especially for the price of the tickets.

Terrible crowd management. Spent from half 4 till 8pm in various queues (bus, then entry, wrist and top up then bar). 2 hour queue alone for the bar with people jumping the queue, climbing over barriers etc. It was pure luck that we actually found the bus to get back to the city as no instructions were given as a pickup point. Won't be going to another Jika Jika that's not in a club.

The venue is shocking. 2 hour que to get in. 1 hour que to get a wristband top up to buy a drink then a 1 hour que at the beer tent for a 5.25 s**te pint. We left shortly after to avoid the carnage of trying to get home after closing time. Would never go back to this venue. Been at Ebrington square every other year and was a great venue. This was shocking. Badly organised from top to bottom. Oh and if
I haven’t had covid yet I will have now the security were craming folk in the ques in like sardines. 1/10 ?

Honestly guys the music was great. The tent was big enough. But for god sake it should take 90 mins to get into the event. Make 2 entrance areas and Shepard people to them to get people in. I missed the whole rebuke set because the aye was so slow. That was the joke of the day. Once we got in we enjoyed the night but didn't drink from the bar because the ques there were a joke aswell. The sound wasn't loud enough and only got corrected 30 minutes into capriati set. Then it was better ? before that it wasn't great

Spent more time queuing than listening to music. Never felt so unsafe in the bar queue. Stampede waiting to happen. What I heard of the music was great- only heard the last act.

Review of Jika Jika Festival 2021
In all honesty, the event was awful and a waste of money. Very poorly organised in that 3/4 of our time at the event was spent in queues to get into the venue, top up our bands and to get drinks. The bar queue in particular was the worst. Everyone squeezed in together between barriers, people breaking the barriers to get further up the queue or shoving up in front. Multiple times I was physically stuck because there was so many people shoved in around me. In no way was there any thought about covid safety in that queue and someone really could have been physically hurt. Music and artists were great when we were eventually able to get to them! We were sent by a stewart in the wrong direction for our return bus home that we had already paid for that was in conjunction with the event, and so missed any oppournity to get home without having to walk in the dark for an hour or more. Luckily 2 very kind event developers drove us home, otherwise we were being left in the dark at the event site because the flood lights had been removed at that point. Other people had ended up walking home because of the bus situation too. Will not be going to another Jika Jika event again.
