Review of Knockengorroch World Ceilidh 2019
This festival boasts everything else you might expect from a World ceilidh with amazing music from big stage bands from all over the world as well as cutting edge electronica, traditional arts & crafts, workshop areas for adults and children and a nice varied number of food stalls. All of this takes place in in a remote glen of the Southern Uplands in Dumfries & Galloway where rural heritage is obviously a priority.
I have long lamented the loss of places to jam and play acoustic music on the UK festival scene - the openness and relaxed atmosphere of festival life offers the perfect opportunity for creativity to breed and with so many musicians, poets & artists from different walks of life being in one place the potential for spontaneous collaborations is enormous. Knockengorroch World Ceilidh has all this completely covered with an entire area boasting 2 venues dedicated to acoustic performances and late night sessions and jams. There is a reconstruction of a traditional Gallovidian Longhouse as well as the Weirdigans session tent all enclosed within a craft village at one end of the festival.
With around 2500 people on site this is a little gem of a festival with a unique, overtly friendly atmosphere that is suitable for and appeals to families & people of all ages.

Small, safe and so much fun! The people at Knockengorroch couldn’t have been friendlier or more accepting, and the dogs - oh the dogs... Will 100% be returning next year.

Review of Knockengorroch World Ceilidh 2019
It was a bit of a wash out for us unfortunately but weather can't be helped and it didn't seem to dampen any spirits! I had a bit of car trouble leaving and Matt was super helpful and very kind changing my tyre and doing all he could to help. Thanks all, I'd love to come back sometime again!
