Review of TIP the DJ
Great first night for this event, music was on point and it was a good atmosphere from start to finish!! The venue was decent with cheap booze and only a fiver to get in. I'm looking forward to seeing this grow as it would be great to have a regular house night in the area.

Review of TIP the DJ
Not the music I was expecting which I raised with one of the DJs and the organiser, they were very pleasant but I could see that there wasn't much that could change by that point. First and foremost, there was no classic crusty house due to a technical hitch ? The Techno stuff disappeared into obscurity well before midnight. Most of the crowd were friends of the DJs and were hanging around chatting on the dance floor by this point, like me probably holding their breath for a decent tune to come on !! Tip for the DJ: if no one is actually dancing, then you need to change the record ! When the more recognizable tunes came on, people were up booge-ing - take that as your cue ! I know you want to practice your art form but it's the crowd and the atmosphere that lay the foundations and once you have hooked us we're in the palm of your hand (potentially).
Speaking for my group (in our 40s and 50s) we're willing to dance to more obscure and/or newer stuff if it's mixed with the recognisable dance anthems (80s/90s) With such a good sound system you could have nailed it.
Maybe this night would be better off happening in a venue in Central Manchester with students etc. The local demographic in M25 are families and specifically parents in their 40s who will book a baby sitter in order to get a regular boogie fix. That's why Take Me To Church is so popular, a little something for everyone and people are willing to go outside their comfort zone with the odd few tracks. There is room for this kind of night but you need to think of your local audience. It's okay bringing friends, but they're not going to be there every time.
I don't mean to be overly negative but I (the three of us in fact) felt really disappointed, and know it could have been so much better. First nights are always tricky to gauge, so I hope this is helpful in some way.
Very friendly crowd by the way and great venue and staff as ever.
