On Sunday 24th April, Space Ibiza brings some of those holiday vibes to Leeds' Club Mission to party like only they know how, with the help of Sebastien Leger and Camilo Franco.

We caught up with newly crowned best Ibiza resident Camilo Franco to talk about the White Isle, the forthcoming Summer season, and what he has in store for Space Ibiza on Tour.

Firstly, congratulations on being voted Best Ibiza Resident DJ at the DJ Mag Awards. Does this mean a lot to you or are you not bothered about things like that?

For me it is always great to receive any kind recognition to my job and if it is something related to Ibiza it is even more special to me, because there are a lot of great talented people there.

For those who don’t know, how would you describe you music style?

Ok, basically my music style is a mix between house, tech-house, and Progressive. It’ll always contain groovy rhythms, sometimes vocals, and a lot of latin influences.

How has the year gone so far for you?

Very good! I started the year playing at Space Ibiza’s Festival in Sydney alongside Carl Cox, Steve Lawler, and many other big names. Then I played in Brasil for the carnivals, first at Salvador’s carnival on a truck and then at Green Valley alongside Fat Boy Slim, and I have been touring with Space Ibiza in between, so I cannot complain at all!

A lot of DJs would aspire to be resident at one of the world’s best loved clubs – Space Ibiza! How did you get to be resident there?

I have to be thankful about this because some friends and promoters (they know who they are) believed in me, they saw my talent at other clubs and parties and gave me the opportunity to start playing  there. I first started playing at Space once every summer, then I started getting more gigs every summer until I became a resident DJ.

You have played in Leeds before for Space Ibiza, what would you say about the crowd?

I love the UK and I love the English crowd! They really know how to rock and I am really looking forward to playing for them.

On Easter Sunday you will be headlining Space Ibiza Party @ Club Mission alongside Sébastien Léger. What can we expect from this party?

You can expect feeling like being at Space Ibiza’s Sunset Terrace dancing outdoors and smelling the salt from the Balearic sea...

What DJs/producers are doing it for you right now? And which tracks do you think will be big in Ibiza this summer?

For me The New Iberican League (Chus, David Penn and Abel Ramos) are really doing it for me but I could also name Ramon Tapia, Martin Solveig, Afrojack, Chuckie, there are so many... As per the tracks, maybe “Libres para simepre ( free forever)” from Chus and Penn as well as “Hello” Remixes from Martin Solveig  will be big in Ibiza this summer.

What advice would you give to any budding DJs?

Just to keep working on their mixes and productions in a professional way and regularly.

Finally, what drinks shall we have ready for you in Leeds?

Umm! Champagne? (Laughs)
